Virgil van Dijk facing surgery and long absence!
Liverpool´s centre-half and Netherlands captain and star player Virgil van Dijk was injured in a late challenge from Everton´s goalie, Jordan Pickford during Saturday´s derby.
Scans showed an anterior cruciate ligament to is damaged an require surgery. No timeframe has been put on the defender´s absence as according to sources, Liverpool doesn’t want to rule out a return in this season. However, Nedwedden speaking to experts in Netherlands, these types of damages usually mean several months on the sidelines and therefore a return to the pitch this season seems very unlikely.
Jordan Pickford, the English goal keeper escaped punishment for the foul but the incident is being reviewed by the English football federation.
Virgil´s injury will be a hefty blow for Liverpool trying to retain the premiere league title as he has played every minute since his absence back in September 2018 and is the key player in Klopp´s defense.
