Michael van Gerwen to quarterfinals World Cup

Michael ”Mighty Mike” van Gerwen go through to the quarter finals of the World Cup darts after a thrilling victory over Joe Cullen.

The three time World Champion, Michael van Gerwen, was trailing by 1-3 after the first 4 sets but managed to turn it around to a remarkable 4-3 victory. In the first set, the caller Russ Bray, passed the wrong score to Cullen but the British darter managed to win the set with 3-2.

Second set was won by Michael equalizing the score awhile the third set was won by Joe. In the fourth set, Van Gerwen had three arrows to take the set but failed and Cullen was now in the lead with 1-3 in sets putting massive pressure on the Dutch.

The pressuare seemed to work and Van Gerwen won the fifth set with 3-1 in legs while the sixth set was nerve wrecking with 2-2 in legs. Cullen missed and the score was now even, 3-3. In the seventh and final set, Cullen again missed a dart and Van Gerwen could seize the victory and go through to the quarterfinals. Worth to mention is that Cullen had nineteen (19) 180´sers while Van Gerwen only managed 9.
