Verstappen takes the win and Perez in third!

Christian Horner, RedBull boss, said a determination not to experience the same disappointment as in Barcelona when Mercedes caught up to them and beat them to the finish line, led them to their victory in France.

By that, Max Verstappen stretches his lead over Lewis Hamilton out to 12 points.

Verstappen started in pole but lost his lead to Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton on the first lap braking too late in a corner. He gained the position back when he undercut the Mercedes at the first pitstop but again lost it to Lewis when he made his second pitstop on lap 32.

After this second and last pitstop the chase was on and with 3 laps to go the Dutchman caught up to the British driver and could pass him fairly easy with much fresher tires.

Perez, the second RedBull driver took third place while Bottas, team mate to Lewis ended up in fourth. Worth to notice is Bottas frustration over Mercedes pitstop strategy when he yelled on radio

- “Why the f@”#€ no one listens to me when I say it´s going to be a two-stopper. F@#€#” Hell!”
