Nils Van Der Poel - New World Record 10 000 meter

The Super Swede, Nils Van Der Poel lived up to the expectations and demolished his old world record with over 2 seconds, setting a new world record with the time at 12.30,74.

The 25 year old Swede was close to 14 seconds faster than the Dutch silver medalist Patric Roest. Third place and bronze medal went to the Italian skater Davide Ghiotti.

Nils only had one minor fault during the race, a misstep with the skate and for a split second it looked like it could make him fall. Other than that, he was in control from start to finish can now bring back his second gold from the Olympic Games.
