Max Verstappen retires - Mechanical failure
Max Verstappen suddenly retired from the Australian GP running in second place after Ferrari´s LeClerc. The reigning champion looked furious as again the car was the reason for his early retirement. Marshals rushed to the car to put out the fire.
Verstappen was on the hunt for a back-to-back podium setting aside the disappointing mechanical failure in Bahrain but was out of luck. LeClerc who qualified for pole made no mistake in the start and held the lead throughout the race with a perfect drive and getting the extra point for fastest lap. The Ferrari is currently flying although teammate Carlos Sainz was unlucky not only in qualifying but also in the race, spinning and ending up in the gravel for an early retirement.
Second place went to RedBull Perez who could not challenge the Ferrari and third place went to Russel in his Mercedes. Hamilton ended up in fourth place, a good result considering the huge
